And BREATHE!!!!!
Feb. 25th, 2004 04:00 pmOk
So after a mild case of OHMYGODWHATAMIGOINGTODOI'MCOMPLETELYSCREWEDHERE! I finally (with TBird's help) got settled down.
I have a group project/presentation due for school in about 2 hours.
This morning the kids went to school and I went to work and got a fair amount accomplished. I transferred my presentation for class this evening onto a disk and came home around lunch time to watch for the kids. The kids were about 20 mintues late - which nearly sent me into a tizzy - as one of them ISN'T my kid, and I'm assuming the parent of said child would be a mite ticked off if I were to have misplaced her. But they got home safe and sound. However, it's started my panic hormones going.
Anyway. I pop my disk into my home computer just to make sure I can open the document and--->powie. It says the disk has an error and needs to be reformatted.
Uhoh. Hmmm... this is bad. And I'm starting to get a headache.
But it's ok, as I have the presentation on hotmail, I'll just open it up here make the changes and save it to disk again. And------>powie, apparently it's my drive that has the error and it's not saving anything. It's about this time I start to really panic.
So the question is, is it REALLY on the first disk, or did it get screwed up or what.
Meanwhile, the dog is barking incessently because it wants to play with the children, and the children are teasing it and want a snack and I'm going to rip my hair out and whose idea was it to have children in the first place and who said an education is a good thing...... GAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!
But that's ok because I'll just make the changes and email it to myself again in hotmail.
Ok, So I try to email it to my hotmail account through my Sympatico account, and apparently it decides to send it to "Yoda" which kind of frightens me, as I don't know who Yoda is. But upon looking, apparently Yoda's ME. So now I'm even more frightened, because I have no idea why my address book would have named me Yoda... I'm suspecting something's amiss here... I try half a dozen times with no luck. Partially because it's huge (and I've cut down the graphics since) and partially, I suspect because it was just feeling like it wanted to tick me off even more. Dunno why but eventually it goes.
Anyway. I've managed to send it to myself in hotmail, and I've IM'd the professor and he assures me I can download hotmail from the class - and I've also uploaded it to my website, and summerlady has verified that she can download it there. And I also have the original disk, which may or may not work.
I've gone over my part of the presentation 3 times, and I think i can BS my way through for the required 5 minutes or less...
I swear to god. When the next term comes up, will SOMEBODY tell me that this is the term I need to take off?
jeeze, I'm quite the drama queen, aren't I.
Oh well, that's why I try to put all my rants behind a cut tag. That way if you don't feel like dealing with my drama today, you can just move on.
