And it's a very far fetched thought... a down right loony one, actually, but humour me here for a minute.

I'm considering joining the armed forces. Ok, just typing that sentance sounded more like I'm going to do it than I'm conidering it... maybe I'm considering considering joining the armed forces.

Hear me out here for a second.

1) I hate my job
2) I want an education

Soooooooo.........

Last night I dreamt that I worked with Hawkeye and BJ at a MASH unit. Ok, yes, it's a bit far fetched, not to mention that I've ALWAYS loved watching MASH and I *KNOW* (so you don't have to remind me) that the armed forces is not all about booze and a laugh track, but please continue to humour me.

IN the armed forces they will pay for your education if you commit to them for a period of time. The pay is fairly decent, they have a great pension plan... The Canadian Armed forces tends (and I say tends, knowing that it's not ALWAYS so) to be more of a Peace Keeping organization than a Rambo one. And, I've always wanted to do somethign more health related... so... Why not look into joining the Armed Forces (the navy maybe? Work on the ocean??) and be a medical assistant or some such thing.

Yes, yes, I know, there'll be long stints away from my family, and I'm probably too old, and... stuff... but I'm just thinking those thoughts that always seem to make so much sense after you wake up from a dream.

Not only that, but think what Basic Training will do for my abs... :P

Interesting thought....

Just out of interest, in the uk (and I'd have a guess and say in Canada too) if you work for an educational institution they pay for your education too. Like my college paid for my HND and they're paying for my collegues Degree and even paid for my boss's Masters Degree.

And there is (usually) less shooting and pointy things and such like in education. Not sure how the pay compares to the rambo free corps though..

Yep, that's an option as well, and god knows halifax is a university rich city - but the jobs are harder to come by then.. then.. (insert stupid metephore here)

In the light of day, the idea seems a little more far fetched then it did when I first woke up, but I may persue it anyway.

And keep in mind, there are pencils and other pointy things at universities too!

Gina snorts/laughs and then looks around the room nervously to see who might have heard her, then realizing she's working from home and there's NOBODY around she decides she doesn't much care and laughs some more

I go to a university that was founded by nuns and is predominantly female. Pointy objects other than pencils are few and far between.

lol, yeah, check a few handbags, I bet in an environment like that you'll find more than your fair share of pointy things ;)
