And it's a very far fetched thought... a down right loony one, actually, but humour me here for a minute.

I'm considering joining the armed forces. Ok, just typing that sentance sounded more like I'm going to do it than I'm conidering it... maybe I'm considering considering joining the armed forces.

Hear me out here for a second.

1) I hate my job
2) I want an education

Soooooooo.........

Last night I dreamt that I worked with Hawkeye and BJ at a MASH unit. Ok, yes, it's a bit far fetched, not to mention that I've ALWAYS loved watching MASH and I *KNOW* (so you don't have to remind me) that the armed forces is not all about booze and a laugh track, but please continue to humour me.

IN the armed forces they will pay for your education if you commit to them for a period of time. The pay is fairly decent, they have a great pension plan... The Canadian Armed forces tends (and I say tends, knowing that it's not ALWAYS so) to be more of a Peace Keeping organization than a Rambo one. And, I've always wanted to do somethign more health related... so... Why not look into joining the Armed Forces (the navy maybe? Work on the ocean??) and be a medical assistant or some such thing.

Yes, yes, I know, there'll be long stints away from my family, and I'm probably too old, and... stuff... but I'm just thinking those thoughts that always seem to make so much sense after you wake up from a dream.

Not only that, but think what Basic Training will do for my abs... :P

Interesting thought....

I'm feeling a little less wigged out than I was yesterday. Thank you to all who humoured me and allowed me the few minutes of self pity.

So, on a brighter note, let's go for those three things to be grateful for, shall we?

1) I'm grateful that... IT'S SUNNY TODAY!!!!! Not blazing 30 degree sun or anything, but a cloudless deep blue sky none the less. And I suspect that's what I've been missing.

2) I'm grateful that today I'm babysitting the babysitters kids, because it gives The Kid something to do today (she's 7, by the way, [livejournal.com profile] jynxgirl) and will allow me to *reallY* get some work done today.

3) I'm grateful for the way the sun rises on the same side of the house as my bedroom and this morning it's shining off the new hardwood floors and putting me in that romantic novel heroine type mood.

Speaking of romantic novel heroines...

behind this cut for those of you who don't like to read good thick sappy fiction )

for those of you who don't so much care about my little pony )

So I went as far as to send the recruting office an email that asked if they'd even be interested in a dumpy old 35 year old woman with only a management background and their response rather... frightened me. And I quote:

Yes we would be interested. You would have to pass the tests and interview. We would train you to do what we want you to do.

Maybe working at a university might not be such a bad option after all. I mean, I've got pointy things in my purse.

I went and had a nice 2 hour long massage in January - it's covered under my health benefits at work - put the cost on my visa and submitted the receipt for payment. Today I get a letter in the mail refusing to pay the bill because they claim I am no longer employed by the company through which I made my claim.

So, the bill still sits on my Visa, and apparently I'm unemployed but my employer has failed to tell me.

Bummer, dude.
