Sad day

found out this morning that my beautiful best friend - my nine year old black lab - has cancer and will have to be put to sleep on Monday. Its a complete shock as, even now she's happy and wagging her tail. She hadn't been eating the past two days (and she's regularly a food hound) and her tummy was a bit distended. Took her to the vet this morning expecting a whopping great bill and a perscription for something for a tummy bug, only to find out she's got advanced cancer of the spleen and probably won't last a month. The best thing is to put her down now before she's in pain. She may not even last the weekend - it happens fast - the swelling in the tummy is because she's bleeding internally. :(

Life sucks.

I'm so sorry. Hugs offered. There's never anything good to say at times like this. This is the hardest part of having pets in our families, the moment when we are told that we have to make the decision to end our friend's life, in order to prevent their suffering. I wish there were more I could say.
