Why I should NOT throw on the old baggy blue sweat pants and the oversized fleece sweat shirt?

Because somebody might knock at your door..

and when you open it, it turns out to be the person you most want to see there, and least want to see you in your baggy sweats.

I make a point of at least wearing colour co-ordinated sweats that don't make me look like I crawled through a hedge backwards wearing a michelin man suit - mummy always said you never know who will knock at the door.
