Or rather, one thing of note, and one small walk down memory lane.

First, I have re-enrolled in university. So it looks like, for the time being anyway, I'll be back to working towards a degree - part time of course. We have a new policy for education and my boss encouraged me to take a few courses that were relevant. We found one (Labour Relations) and while I was at it I decided to go for the gusto and re-enrol and take a few courses. After signing up for them my boss has told me that he'll pay for all of them. That sucks not.

The memory lane thing, which is totally irrelevant, but I thought I'd post it here none the less... Any of you oldies but goodies remember the "good old" days of LJ? The days when there used to be 3 or 4 posts a day from people like us, or people you don't see much any more or people who have gone down a different path from you? People like [livejournal.com profile] anahata56 and [livejournal.com profile] 64tbird and [livejournal.com profile] kyra_ojosverdes and [livejournal.com profile] summerlady and [livejournal.com profile] gunhed and [livejournal.com profile] siliconshaman, not to mention a half a dozen trolls and such.

And yes, I have other friends who have been around forever,(I'm looking at you [livejournal.com profile] simonmarshall and [livejournal.com profile] framlingem) and most of you still post occasionally, but I made 9 posts on February 25, 2004. NINE! Now I'm lucky if I get nine a year, and many of you are the same.

Those were the fun old days. A bit angsty but fun.

I remember. I miss those days. Now, it seems like if you aren't on Facebook, you're never going to hear from your friends again.

Yeah, seconded... and I don't trust FB. Although I may just create another email account to register with.

So does this mean we are all officially OLD, or are just on facebook posting every five minutes OR tweeting? lol

:D

Hey, I'm still here! Just kinda busy of late... I should post more though, I got out of the habit with computer woes.

Plus IM doesn't work so well for me nowadays though, Beloved is on the 2pm-10pm shift which means I'm not awake mornings, so I'm pretty much only around when all my American friends are either asleep or just getting up.

Still... email me, silicon dot shaman at gmail dot com, obviously, and we can chat that way.

Hellooooo! I check LJ once or twice a month and how surprised I am to see my name mentioned! Lemme see...do I miss LJ? Sort of. I miss people, but some are on facebook from the old days and so am I. I definitely don't miss the drama, and there was SO much of it back then. I also just don't have as much to say or the time to say it anymore. Those long, involved posts! Those filters! The infighting! The trolls! Facebook suits me better now, relatively drama free and a sentence or two will do. Although one of my sisters in law, the one who believes that Glenn Beck is a "hero", hasn't spoken to me for the past six weeks after I posted a fairly innocuous video of the protests in Wisconsin. She wrote: "omg...i didn't realize how much you hate republicans"...well, duh. But I didn't much like her before and now I don't have to bother with her at all. So it's a good thing.

Anyway...good luck, Gina. Hope your classes are interesting and that you get that degree. :)

P.S. I think the last time I posted on LJ was last year sometime after a trip to Disneyworld. I've got another grandchild, my husband and I are both retired now, and my life is boring and I love it. xoxo

Good to see you too, and congratulations on the grandchild and retirement!

Ya, I miss the people too sometimes, though I still see a number of them on Facebook and there are still a number of them who post here occasionally, but we had a really unique thing here a while ago. It was a very strong community that got me through some tough places. It's nice to see that (hopefully) many of us don't need that support any more.

Take care, and hope to run into you occasionally in the future!
