Here's today's story. Rather last night's story.

So as you may remember (or not) The Kid and I go to Tae Kwon Do. I go every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I've gone for a year now and I've got a green stripe belt. (which is kinda cool. The Third level belt.) The kid has one belt left (a black stripe) between her and a black belt.

The teacher of the class is a 4th degree black belt. Let's call him sir. (We do actually, so that's not a stretch). As 2008 drew to a close sir decided that teaching kids (and a handfull of adults) Tae Kwon Do 5 nights a week (He teaches every night, I just go M,W,F) for $60/mo wasn't doing much more than paying the rent and certainly wasn't preparing him for any kind of future, so he decided to join the Navy (and see the world, but what did he see? He saw the sea) Aaaaaaaaaaaaaanyway (I'm digressing) We now have a new teacher. We'll call him Sir (capital S, notice the difference?) Sir is a 6th degree black belt. (apparently that's a big deal)

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanyway, last night was his first class. yay. really. ok. maybe not. He's just so not sir (little s) sir was a ball of energy, young, funny, and worked us hard. Sir (big s) is a bit older, not nearly as funny, not so much energy and is very very focused on doing things right rather than doing them... um... the way we were doing them. I guess sir (little s) wasn't so big on being particular on particulars so a lot of us are doing things not quite right. Such as counting in Korean. (eye rolling) Much effort was spent last night on kicking the air - lift up kick out retract bum down - and shuffling (foot work really, but who's counting). Which is fine. Really. Yup. ok. Seriously, it's very good to learn how to do shite properly, but quite frankly, I enjoyed the class because it was fun and because I was in a sweat when I was done. And kicking shite is a good stress reliever. I'm not sure if it's gonna be like that anymore. And The Kid HATES it, even though she was told last night that Saturday she's to start Black Belt training classes, meaning that she should be able to test for her black belt within the next couple of months.

I've decided that I'm going to stick it out for the next three months - until I go to Punta Cana - and see if it's just me not liking change or if it's really not going to be the class I want to take. I've asked The Kid to do the same, but I've told her if she wants to duck out earlier then that'd be ok by me too.

bah.
