So, I'm the "Senior" Account Manager here in the Atlantic now. I feel about as Senior as... as... as...
Ok, I can't think of anybody that I feel like. But I do NOT feel Senior.
I've enlisted the aid of one of my colleages (who's very wise and all) to be my mentor for a bit until I get a bit more senior feeling. Talking about my customers, what I'm doing, basically, she's just giving me some positive reinforcement until I feel a bit more self assured, or "grown up"
She said she'll mentor me as long as I've set some sort of goal that tells me when I've "grown up"
Dang, how do you ever know when you're grown up? Anybody?

Date: 2007-06-12 09:04 pm (UTC)I've found that just going with not feeling grown up works for me--and it tends to work for other people too. People who might think that you're just getting too big for your own britches and who thus resent increased success.
The first couple of weeks especially, it works to be scared and humble as all hell--and gets you a lot of otherwise withheld support.

I have both (or rather, all three) now, so that means I'm grown up. Hope that helps! ;)
