So... what's new then?

Had an odd dream last night. Dreamed (Drempt? I can never remember how to use that word properly) that I went to England to visit my dad's family. In my dream they lived in this big old rambling Tara-plantation type house (which, if you're familiar with Barnsley at all, isn't exactly status-quo) Something secret and bad had happened, and it was all very taboo to talk about it. I can't remember what the taboo topic was, but I think it had something to do with murder. Odd. Anyway, we got there, Dick, the kid and I, and everybody was being very noisy and unreasonable and there was only a very tiny washing machine and I had to do all our laundry in this one washing machine that only held 2 shirts. Meanwhile it's 3:00 in the morning in my head, Atlantic time, and there it's only 9:00 or so (yeah, I know the math doesn't work) and everybody wants to have a party and all i want to do is finish washing my clothes (and a couple of rolls of toilet paper that I'd gotten dirty) and go to bed. But nobody'd let me. I tried to do an LJ post to try to get [livejournal.com profile] simonmarshall or [livejournal.com profile] siliconshaman to come rescue me but for some reason I couldn't get the computer to connect.

In other news...

Lucy's got a bum leg. Vet's not sure what's up, she's going to get x-rays on Tuesday. Could be a bunch of things, ranging from hip dysplasia to a torn ligament to pretty much anything. She favours her right rear leg when she gets up from laying down for a bit and if she's been on an extended play she's really stiff for a day or two afterwards. And she doesn't put any weight on her foot. Just the initial visit this week was $130. X-rays are going to be probably another $200 and then (eep) we'll see what happens next. I've always been the kind of pet owner that says that only silly people spend thousands on their animals. But when faced with it... Thank god for credit cards. And don't for a minute think that I don't realize how lucky I am to even be in a situation where I'm considering paying money like that for dog surgery when there are people in the world who have a hard time paying for their own healthcare. (Thank God for public health)

I took this week off from work. Got a doctor's note and everything (speaking of public healthcare). I'm tired. I'm stressed out. QBAHAM quit and the place is insane and I'm tred of it. An email came down Thursday saying that we now have to work 8:30 - 5 instead of 9 - 5, however we can still come in at 9:00 if we only take half an hour for lunch. As far as I'm concerned, what that's saying is that I don't have to work after 5:00 anymore. Or Fridays. Whaddevah. I find it very tiring. And disappointing, I think, that a company that's supposed to be promoting workplace health is being so totally... assholish.

But aside from all of this, life isn't too bad. I have SWEAT PEAS that are about an inch high. They look like my best crop of sweat peas since I moved in to this house 13 years ago today. I *heart* sweat peas, and for some reason I never get them to grow, but this year... hooray! It's been raining since about February, but I've bought some waterproof gardening gloves. No plants, but gloves. I also bought a funky new purse today, which has nothing to do with anything, but there it is.

And now, my sister has just completed her first 10k run and for the first time in my life I am NOT jealous of her, rather I am totally thrilled for her, and I'm going to take her a present.

Have a good one. I know I am.

I don't know what you mean, Barnsley is reknowned for it's rolling plantations.

Laundry AND murder huh? Crikey, you don't arf know how to live it up.

Oh and I think dreamed and dreamt are interchangable as past tense, but I may be mistook. ;)

(nice to see you again btw, you must come again soon :) )

That's... weird... I was dreaming I had to get to someplace that looked like it was Wayyy south of the Mason/dixon line, but everyone was speaking in a Yorkshire accent.

Umm...I think I got your message.

Weird dream. The only real part was the tiny british washing machine.

You wanted to wash rolls of toilet paper in your dream? This is sounding very freudian.
