I had my mediation exam this morning. Yeah, already. I'm finished. It seems like yesterday I just started. I don't think I learned much though. It was a bit of a twit class, even though it was a 4000 level course. The exam consisted of 3 pages, the first page was a paragraph which described a case between two individuals (who were married) who'd started a halfway type house and had decided they wanted to get a divorce and wanted to figure out how to still run the halfway house and see their kids. The second page consisted of 8 questions, of which you had to answer five. The first three questions were mandatory and were worth 70% of the exam:
1) List the stages of mediation.
2) Based on the previous case, what would you do in pre-mediation
3) If there was indication of domestic violence, what would you do

Of the ones you had to choose from I chose the following two questions (worth 30%)
1) Questions that begin with "Why" often put people on the defensive. Give your theory behind this.
2) Some other equally lame question that doesn't want to come to my poor aching brain right now.

I could have been finished in half an hour but I decided to big time flush out the answers, so for example, instead of just listing the stages of mediation a, b, c, d, I expanded each, gave reasons behind them, examples, blah blah blah.

The last page was a "self examination" (No, not a breast self examination...) wherein she asked us to judge ourselves - did we do all the assignments, did we show up for every class, were we prepared, did we involve ourselves in the discussion... out of 10, what would you give yourself? And this mark will go directly on my overall mark. Then it asked me what I would give myself on an overall mark for the class, and to justify it. So I highly expect that I've just given myself an A-.

I have to say, of the things I've learned, one of the biggest things is the fact that university does not teach you much. I'm fairly certain I could have written that exam 6 months ago and probably gotten roughly the same mark.

Anyway, it's done now. And I have a headache. And I see that I got paid a day early because tomorrow's a holiday, therefore I think sushi is in order. All in favour? Contrary minded, if any? Motion is carried.

I was prowling around astrological sites yesterday and discovered gemini and sagittarius make good friends. Go figure?

and yeah, i saw your comment about the spa certificate. I wisely chose to make no comment. Unless it had an expiration date, it's probably still valid.

Are you familiar with www.cainer.com? I ADORE him. He's my go-to guy.

Never heard of him...I just googled "astrology" and picked a few sites that popped up. ;-)

But I'll be sure to check his site out later since you've given the guy such a stellar recommendation. :-)

Several of my RL friends are into astrology. Jeanette and Matina practically live their lives by the charts. Sherry follows it all somewhat, but not to the same degree. ;-)

well, yeah. i knew that already....did you also know that in most stuff we are polar opposites??? which is why, in astrological terms, we get along so well.

jason's also a gemini. but he went over to the dark side a long time ago. he doesnt really count.

:D

I've always thought opposites really do attract. Sherry and I have lots of common interests, but while she's an extroverted, outgoing, feeling person, I'm more the quiet logical thinker type who gets along with everybody.

But we seem to stimulate each other (no, not THAT kind of stimulation, mentally stimulate each other, perv!) and that's a good thing...

According to the astrological sites, my "ideal" mate is supposed to be a libra...and I don't even know any libra women, my female friends seem to be leo, sagittarius and aquarius most often. Tall Karen is a pisces though. ;-)

Jason gives the rest of us a bad name!

(No, i didn't mean us geminis, i meant us men). ;-)

What's Richard's sign?

Richard's a libra, he gets along with everybody. although as a libra he tries too hard sometimes to make sure everyone is happy. that gets annoying.

Jason used to be a nice gemini, and i have good friends who are geminis...you're one, James (formerly from louisiana) is another. you guys are normal. jason, however, has allowed his circumstances to take over his emotions and he's fallen into that self-pitying, self-centered attitude that i've come to hate.

i often wish for the 'good old days' with him but i realize it'll never happen. he's going to stay selfish and self-pitying i believe. he's getting older now (36) if he was going to change he'd have started already.
;)

A libra eh? Gee, if he were a female,he'd be my theoretical ideal mate. ;-)

James with the chest...I remember. ;-)

maybe jason lied about his birthday. He's not exactly the most dependable person you know. ;-)

An old jason-dog can't learn new tricks. Why has he become so self-pitying?

:-)

i dont know exactly when jason starting with the extreme self-pity. it's been at least a few years because my former friends all tired of him quickly; it took me a while to catch on. sometimes i'm slow like that.
;)

i'm always too quick to explain away stuff like that if i'm feeling loyal, and i usually stay pretty loyal. except now i'm tired of it and actually pretty tired of lots of things. i have very few friends now because i'm tired of flaky friends. the ones i keep are all good ones.
:)

Slow but steady. ;-)

Sometimes we can be a bit TOO loyal when it's at the expense of our own happiness. I can cite two very good examples of that right now. ;-)

Actually I wasn't thinking of you when I made that comment... I was thinking of me and another woman.

But now since you've mentioned it... ;-)
