Feb. 25th, 2006 12:02 pmI've spent a goodly chunk of yesterday and so far all of this morning cleaning out my office/computer room. It's been the bane of Dick's existence. All cluttered and messy. Yesterday I went out and bought a lateral filing cabinet and a vertical storage cupboard and I've been going through piles of crap and throwing stuff out or filing things in nice hanging file folders. Putting text books on shelves and rounding up oodles and oodles of CDs. (And tossing oodles and oodles of CD cases.) I even drilled a hole in the back of my desk to run cables through so I can put my printer in the big hole that masquerades as a bank of drawers - getting it out of the way and making it look all nice and tidy. Mind you I had to pull 3 bags of books out of the very same hole before I could fit the printer - does anybody else hold on to books like they were as valuable as children? (with the exception of you, perhaps,
simonmarshall, as I suspect if you held on to books like they were children you'd hold them at a very far distance from yourself and give them away whenever the opportunity presented itself)
It feels so GOOD just having stuff neat. Like my life is orderly or something. And it's rather fun finding a power bill from 1999 (where I used more electricity than I used the same time this year), a pay stub from about the same time (which is almost exactly half of what I'm making now), not to mention tax returns from about the same time period.
I will take pictures shortly, but first I need to run to CapitalistMart and get some boxes, a power bar, and some more hanging filing folders (and I need to get showered and dressed before I do that).
And I had a McDonald's McGriddle for breakfast. The very essence of decadence.
Does life get better than this?

i had a mcgriddle once. it was, in fact, the very essence of decadence. ;)
i like how you used simon in that visualization of children. i think you were quite kind in your assessment.
YAY for clean work spaces!
