Twenty Random Facts

anigoI got taged ages ago and haven't done this yet.
1. I was born in New Brunswick and I moved to Sackville, NS when I was three. I have lived with a 30km radius ever since.
2. I have been to England, Scotland, Amsterdam, Belgium, NF, PEI, NB, NS, ON, QE, ME, MA, NH, NJ, and NC. I've never spent the night in Belgium, NH and NJ.

4. I had to used my fingers to figure that out. And it might not be right.
5. After highschool I went to vocational school and took a secretarial course. I failed shorthand so I never graduated as a "secretary", only as a "Clerk-Typist". The shorthand we learned was called "Stenospeed". The shorthand *I* learned was called "Ginospeed". Named by my fellow classmates. I am quite certain I failed this course because the class was held on Friday mornings. Thursday Evenings was pub nite at the Crazy Horse Tavern. I was hung over a lot for shorthand.
6. Interestingly enough, during my secretarial course I had the highest mark in math of my class. Boy that doesn't say much for my class.
7. I will be 37 on December 6th. On December 6, 1917, Halifax was destroyed by an explosion as a result of two ships colliding in the narrows of Halifax Harbour. The only larger man made explosion is the bomb that was dropped on Hiroshima. The death toll was over 1900. Boston went "over and above" in response to the disaster, sending aid, clothing, shelter and much more. Halifax sends Boston a hand selected 45-50 foot Christmas Tree every year to say Thank You. 8. I have really long toes and I can tie a bowline with them. Makes for a great party trick.
9. The only class I failed in high school was French. The rest of my marks ranged at about a 55 average. God, I'm such an over achiever.
10. I don't hang out with any of the people I hung out with in highschool even though they too, for the most part, still live within a 30 km radius.
11. I've had four dogs in my lifetime. Toby, a German shepherd; Boober, a mutt that bit people; Gunner, a black lab; and the current reigning dog, Lucy the loveable golden retriever. I've also had two guinea pigs - Creampuff and Fluffy; a million fish (one of whom was named Sneakie and another of whom was named Goldie and an oscar named... well... Oscar, what else); probably a dozen hamsters, one of which was named Barney; and... I think that's it.
12. I have a shower every morning and a bath almost every night. I'm not good on water conservation.
13. I used to think the only food I didn't like was curry. That was until I tasted what curry was supposed to taste like as opposed to the curry my mom makes. I like curry.
14. My dad lives in North Carolina and is married to a United Church Minister who thinks Pres. Bush is right up there next to God.
15. I Like Nike. If you spot something orange with a nike logo on it, buy it. I will love you forever for it.
16. I think I've seen every MASH episode enough to be able to recite them all back to you.
17. I sing alto. My piano teacher told my mother that she coudln't teach me anymore because I didn't have any talent. Phuck you, Mrs. Tyres.
18. I used to take ballet lessons. Yeah, I wasnt much good at that either but at least the teacher didn't tell me she didn't want to teach me anymore!
19. I like milk in both my coffee and my tea. Just milk. And lots of it.
20. I once worked for a company that told me that they would fire me if I complained anymore about the fact that the building was unsafe and only had one exit to the administrative office, despite the fact that it was against fire regulations and despite the fact that the administrative office was above a garage that worked on tanker trucks that hauled gasoline and other flammables. I was also told in that same job that I wouldn't be promoted to a sales position because I was a girl and given strict orders not to repeat it or I would be fired. This was a long time ago - when I used to give a shit about being fired.

even though it makes me feel like i'm at work, i still love it. you know lots of those people are DEAD that were on that show?? well ok, just two that i know of, but that seems like a lot.
it is, right?
i was also in the 'secretarial' rotation in high school, turns out i was actually good at it and i learned to write the old fashioned shorthand (i think it was called GREGG) at about 120 wpm. my typing was fast too, and i could do 10 key by touch. dont know why but they liked that. it seemed stupidly easy to me.
good thing i became a nurse.
