Fun weekend. But short. Even for a three day weekend.

Lessee...

Oh, first the bad news. Pepper has joined Angel in the heavenly hamster choir in the sky. That TRULY sucks. She was a cutie and two hamsters kicking off in one month is just wrong. Unfortunately she developed wet tail, a common and pretty much fatal disease in young hamsters. Bummer. We've decided to hold off on any more hamsters for a little bit.

It's poker party time again. The weekend after next the annual Dance Me Loose Poker Party will be held at the Mast Man's cottage out in the middle of no where. (Lake Mush-a-mush - I kid you not.) Now, for them whats don't know, I hadn't been invited to these "all guy" events for the first couple of years. Last year I was and it was quite an achievement for me, not to mention I won a decent amount of money from them! This year I'm having a hard time deciding whether I should go or not. Last year it was in the middle of Chester and I didn't sleep over (as all the guys do) but stayed until about 1:00 and then hit the road. This year it's out in the middle of nowhere and I suspect harder to get to and from. It's not that I don't trust them (though there will be a bunch of guys there I don't know), it's more like... who the hell wants to wake up in the middle of nowhere as the only girl in a cottage with no running water after a night of drinking and playing poker with a bunch of men. blegh. And again I say, blegh.

We'll see.

Some good things, I got a 50$ gift certificate to a book store for wining the Peer Choice Award. If there is anything more decadent than wandering around a big-box book store with overstuffed chairs and a good coffee shop with $50 to blow on books, I don't know what it is. I bought three books - all of which are complete mind candy - and still have $25 left over. (In my defence I *did* have every intention of buying something intellectually stimulating but the current bodice ripper that I'm reading is so horrible that there's no way I can get through. I picked up a Susan Wiggs novel about a woman who has lost her sense of self and something needs to change and a Marian Keyes novel. (Marian Keyes ROCKS - if you haven't read Watermelon go out IMMEDIATELY and do so) Both of which are thick enough to kill very big spiders and guaranteed for hours of bath-tub reading. I also picked up a hard cover book by somebody I don't know but the flyleaf was funny and it was $4.99 so who could say no to that? A famous artic explorer once said that polar expeditions were the most successful form of having a bad time humans have ever devised. Of course, he'd probably never answered an ad for a flastshare with a bunch of commplete strangers. Although if it hadn't been for them I would never had met Addison. Hmmm. Which, when I think of it, is kind of like saying, OK, I lost all my fingers and toes to frostbite, but I met some very sweet pengiuins along the way..." So far I'm only on page 4 but her writing style is very similar to Marian Keyes so it seems like it might have been a good investment.

Dick seems to have cheered up tremendously since he finished the exam. He thinks he did well, which is good, which means he shouldn't need to re-write it, which is very good, and there's a whole month and a half before the next course. Also good.

I did the preliminary version of my taxes this morning and it looks like I'll be getting a nice refund. Yay for that. (Oh, and shhh... that's between you and me. That, coupled with my year-end bonus might get my Visa down to something reasonable which means I might be able to swing both Marblehead and a trip to Colorado. On the other hand, living with my sister, while HORRIBLY fun, is also proving to be HORRIBLY expensive. Yesterday I went out and further battered my already black and blue Visa with another $100 worth of clothes. She's a terrible terrible influence, but DAMN I've been looking good lately!

I'm supposed to be doing homework. I have one question left to do before class tonight which is in an hour. Sense my enthusiasm? Our marks were posted for the work so far this year and the two papers of which I had done better than I had thought (97 and 74 or something) turns out to have been marked based out of 130 and 160 respectively. Oops. Oh well, each is only worth 2 points on the over all mark. Pfffttt.

None the less, I really should get back at it. Did I say Bleagh yet? Ok, 'nuff said then.
