What's the difference between a Norman and a Saxon?

Oh, and today's diary thingie was rather boring, so I'm going to make up one instead.

Today....

Today, make a kid laugh. And tell me how you did it. And it can't be your own kid, if you have one.

Normans come from normandy, and saxons come from saxony...
seriously!

As far we english are concerened, the saxons invaded first, around 400. They'd been around long enough to be considered natives, when the Normans invaded in 1066. The normans set about oppressing the locals, and writing sladerious things about them as well as taxing them to the hilt.

It wasn't long after that the tales about Robin Hood [or Robyn Wood} a saxon noble, and sherif of Nottingham [a norman overlord] got going.

Physically though, zip all difference. Culutrally, saxons typically were either pagans, or early almost-pagan christians and fairly celtic. Normans were french, mostly aristocrats, and pretty fervant catholic fundies. This is the lot that a generation later kicked off the crusades.

Having said that, the normans were pretty good at geting stuff organised.
