Jan. 24th, 2010 05:47 pmSo I've been working out like a fiend lately. I've been trying to go at least 5x a week. Ideally my workout week looks something like this:
Monday Afternoon - Weights
Monday Evening - Tae Kwon Do
Tuesday Afternoon - Running
Wednesday Afternoon - Weights
Wednesday Evening - Tae Kwon Do
Thursday Afternoon - Running
Friday Morning - Weights and a small amount of running
Friday Evening - Tae Kwon Do
Saturday - Nada
Sunday - Nada
However, one of the girls I work with is an aerobics instructor at the gym I go to, so I've been occasionally either adding or swapping out a work out with an aerobics class. Believe it or not, I've actually been following this for the most part. I will sometimes miss a TKD class and on the weekends sometimes I throw something in for good measure.
Wow, that's a lot of workout when you look at it that way.
The running I'm doing is the Learn to Run 10K program again. I'd been doing it quite successfully, right up to New Year's Eve when I was signed up to do a 5K Resolution Run with the local running club. I've done 5Ks before up to now without too much problem, but it was colder than I'm used to running and half way through my lungs decided they were going to close up on me and I didn't bring my inhaler so I ended up walking a bit of it wich was REALLY disappointing (how's that for a run on sentence?). I've been not so much unmotivated but more unproductive since then. Nah, that's not even the word - I'm still running, but I'm not feeling it, which sucks. This week I decided to go back to the start of the LTR 10K program, cut myself some slack for a bit and work back up to where I was. So that's what I'm doing. I did, however come home after the disappointing run and sign up right away for another 5k in May. (That's when the next one is scheduled - none sooner) That way I'll stay on the horse.
Today I did an aerobics class at the gym. My plan was to get there a bit early, do the LTR run that was supposed to happen, (it was a pretty easy run - more walk than run, really - so it's not like it was going to kill me before the class) and then do the class. When I got to the gym I found it to be closed. It doesn't open until noon. What kind of a stupid gym doesn't open until noon on the weekends??? The class started at 12:15 so it didn't give me much chance to do the run. THEN, when I started the class I found that the new workout pants I bought the night before were too slippery to stay on my ass. I spent the first half hour of the class holding them up with one hand and trying to do the upper body exercises with the other hand. After half an hour I gave up on that and decided to go back to the run/walk plan and maybe throw a few weights in there for good measure.
So I did.
The end.
