Ok, yeah, that's one. Here's another.

With all this falderhah about the Vatican not allowing homosexuals into the priesthood, am I the only person who seems to notice that.. um... when you're in the priesthood you're... um...

NOT ALLOWED TO HAVE SEX WITH ANYBODY!!!

Period.

No men, no women, no nothing.

So.

If abstenence is supposed to be the norm...

WHAT THE HELL DIFFERENCE DOES YOUR SEXUALITY MAKE!??!




There's been a lot of discussion in the media, but in all the discussion I've never heard anyone actually make this point.

Ah, catholic dogmia says it does make a differance. See, you can not only commit a sin by doing something, but by thinking of doing something. So... even if you aren't acting upon the desire, if you lust after someone it's sinful, and doubily so if it's a homosexua lusting.

Fair enough, I'll give them that argument, but if hetrosexual priests are presumed to be able to control their lust, shouldn't homosexual priests?

As far as I can tell, lust and sex is lust and sex and priests aren't supposed to have either, regardless of the gender of the object of their affection.

I think part of it is the fact that some Catholic priests have proven that they won't be celibate... and have broken their voews by sexually assaulting children. The majority of these children have been male.

The Vatican is apparently not aware of the statistics concerning sexual orientation of men who sexually assault children (overwhelmingly heterosexual) and is laying the blame at the feet of homosexual priests.

I don't think priests have a sexuality. When you disern to become a priest you're given special graces and you set that side of your life aside. Someone who's completley obsessed with their sexuality gay or strait, probably wouldn't make a very good priest to begin with, and probably do horrible things to little boys! I think it does make a difference. but that's just me a random person who found your journal by accident who's all evangelical!
