Blergh

Dick worked last night and The Kid had a sleep over, so it was supposed to be a nice, restful evening, just me and Lucy. Blergh. I farted around here for a while playing with photoshop. I'm addicted to this website and while I haven't actually felt that any of my noodling has been worth submitting in a contest, I may yet. So I farted around here with that, and chated wtih a couple of friends for a bit and then I decided that I might as well run, otherwise I'll only have gotten one run in this week and my minimum is two.

I did not want to run. No. I wanted to stay home. But I just couldn't only have one run in this week. So I went. My possible routes are from my house, turning left to the train tracks and back, which is 2 k, or my house, turning right to my sister's house and back, which is 5 k, or my house to my sister's house to the train tracks and back, which is (you do the math...) 7 k.

This is the route [livejournal.com profile] fatty666 has promised to doodle me a better picture later.

I said I'd do 7 k. That Friday nights would be my night to go longer and Monday nights would be my shorter night (with swimming on Tuedays and Thursdays and maybe a bonus swim on Saturday... but I digress)

So I started up to the train tracks. Lucy was spooked by EVERYTHING, which meant she was either stopped solid or darting off and taking my arm with her. By the time I'd just about finished the 2 k back to the house I'd just about had enough and figured I'd stop with 2k. Meh, says I. I'll run down the hill past my house, cut myself some slack and walk up the steep hill on the other side, and if, when I get to the top of that hill, I want to turn around and go home, well, then I can. So I kept going. Once I got to the top of the hill I decided to run at least as far as the cross walk. Once I got to the cross walk I decided to at least go to my sister's house. Once I got there, I said, I could walk home if I wanted too and I'll have gone the full 7k, even if I walked a lot of it.

So... I got to my sister's house. Turned around and ran home. And except for the walk up the big hill, I ran most of it. Slowly. Very very very slowly, with much lack of enthusiasm, but I did it. And now I can say that I ran twice this week. And swam twice. So I am athletic. W00t.

The bad thing is that there were two spots where my socks were rubbing up against my feet. They were annoying while I was running but they weren't exactly painfull, but I see now that one of the spots has rubed the skin off my ankle and left a nice blister. Note to self. Annoying sock bumps result in blisters, even if they don't feel like they're hurting at the time.

It's getting cold and I occasionally wheeze up when it's cold, so I've taken to (gasp) using my old inhaler a bit before I run if I think my lungs are going to close up on me. The only thing is, occasionally the damn thing decides that it wants to dilate ALL of the blood vessles I own, thereby giving me a really good headache. Which it did last night. I don't use it often, and it doesn't do it all that often, but when it does... blergh. So I ended up in the middle of the night with a headache which I'm just getting rid of now at about 5:00. It leaves me rather blerghie and without desire to do much other than mope around. And as it's raining and saturday, I don't really see much reason not to go with my desires. I took the Kid swimming earlier but tossed out the idea of doing a few laps while she and her friend were playing and just read a book while they played. Four decent bouts of exercise is enough for one week when you're feeling blerghie.

Ok, that's all my complaining for now.

Gonna plug away at some association work for a bit I think
