Head... it is to headdesk.
Nov. 24th, 2009 03:56 pmSo one of the women here at work and I go out for supper once a month. There's a few rules. It has to be fun/adventuresome food, and we have to go in alphabetical order - either by restaurant or by the type of food. For example, A was Anatoli House which was Indian food. B was Bali Thai which was (you guessed it) Thai food.
Tonight is C and we're going for Carribian food from Ranis Curry and Roti Stop. (menu here)
I invited the Kid to come with us this time, but warned her that they don't have chicken fingers or hamburgers. She's usually ok with being adventuresome as long as there's something to fall back on. And here, not so much.
So we're going through the menu over the phone to see if she wants to come. Wow that's a lot of curry. And Jerked Chicken. Yeah, that's spicy. None of this is appealing to her, but she wants to go sooooooooooo bad. And she's asking what Roti is... and I'm encouraging her to look it up on Wikipedia. So she looks up Roti on Wiki and yeah, she could eat roti. Do I think they would take the curry off the chicken? Yeah, no probably not, since the chicken is cooked *in* the curry. So then she asks, "Do you think they'd make me one of those without the lamb?" And I say what is "one of those", since I'm on the other end of the phone, not in the same room. And "one of those" is the picture below the roti picture in wikipedia, where they've created a lamb gyro (or donair or kebab or whathaveyou) except she'd like that in beef please.
Um, hey, Kid. I'm pretty sure if you go into Ranis Curry and Jerk Stop they're not going to let you order from the Wikipedia menu.
In case you hadn't guessed it - she's not joining us.
