Well, aside from actually putting my crap in my bag, I'm ready to go.

Oh, for what it's worth, Duct Tape bonds incredibly well on dacron sails and sailbags made out of dacron sails. Just in case you have any old dacron sails around you're not using because you have holes in them.

Meals are cooked and frozen. Drugs are ready. Boat's at the starting line waiting to be crewed.

Oh, speaking of crew... one guy has dropped out. Pete, it seems, has caught the same bug that [livejournal.com profile] the_paulr has. Thanks for that, Paul! Thom is currently scurring around looking for another crew member. Hey [livejournal.com profile] pacolouie, any chance you can jet into Halifax by tomorrow at noon and come spend a couple of days on a boat?

But it's all done but the racing now. Just might as well sit back and wait for it to happen.

Along that theme, I just popped out to pick up a few last minute items and bought myself a hammock. I've strung it between the trees in my herb garden. Dick's gone to help a friend build a garage for the day, the Kid's gone to a friend's house for the day... I'm going to do a quick 60 second tidy and hit the hammock for the afternoon. If anybody's looking for me, I'll be out back. [livejournal.com profile] pacolouie, if you'd like to come for a sail, call ASAP.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh The hammock was a good call. As is the book "Lamb" By Christopher Moore. (Subtitled "The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal") Yeah, I know in the real world there should be underlines and shit up there, but who ever said this was the real world?

Ok, last check in before I go. We're meeting in Halifax at 8:00 tomorrow morning which means that I probably won't have any time to post in the Am. So here I am. And here I go.

1/10th of me does NOT want to go. At all. Dreading it. Homesick already. Want to just stay on the hammock all week and relax like a *real* vacation should be. But another 1/10th of me is calling that 1/10th a big wimp and will most likely tie the wimpy part up and hid it under the forward quarter berth for the next week. Ok, that's my little secret out. So here I go, sucking it up and knowing I'm going to have a great time. Shane called a little while ago and said that the weather debriefing they had earlier at the Squadron is calling for great weather (though the cheesy weather channel is calling for rain and high wind, but who pays attention to the cheesy weather channel?)

Ok, here I go. Did I say that already?

One last look at the links in case you're following:

The website for the race is here: http://www.route-hsp.com/ I see that there are pictures from the skippers meeting up already.

http://www.fistracking.com/hsp/index.html is the good one that actually follows the boats, and if you're going there anyway... http://www.fistracking.com/fis_news_hsp.html seems to have verbal (and maybe some pictorial, if any of the other races are an indication) updates.

It's gonna be F'ing cold.

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Talk to you all soonish.
