The vacation gods have smiled
Apr. 11th, 2005 10:30 amSo...
I, in my half/half/four day position got the equivalent of 2 days a week Account Manager vacation and 2 days a week Assistant vacation - at 4 weeks and 3 weeks respectively. So... four weeks of two days and three weeks of two days... or, if your math is as good as mine is... 8+6, or 14 days (Which, on a 4 day work week is equal to 3.5 weeks).
About six weeks or so ago I got an email from my boss saying I had not sent in all of my vacation requests from last year. (I had). So I sent them to her again and she forwarded them to our HR department. Not long after that I got another request from our HR Department to send in my vacation request forms for last year. So I did. And again, another request. Which I happily did.
So....
Friday I get an email from our HR department. It says:
According to the Vacation request forms you faxed over, you will carry over 4 vacation days from 2004 into 2005, having taken 14 vacation days out of the alloted 18. I have updated the system accordingly. If this is inaccurate please let me know so I can make the adjustments.
Sweet!
So, what this means is that, not only am I getting bumped up an extra two days of vacation for becoming a full time AM, and not only am I getting an extra 4 days vacation from a carry over, apparently I should actually have been taking 4.5 weeks instead of 3.5.
IN SUMMARY (For those of you I may have lost - including myself)
What I thought was 3.5 is actually 4.5 and will be bumped to 5 because of my promotion, *and* I get a carry over week from last year that I didn't know about.
SIX WEEKS VACATION THIS YEAR!!!!!!!!
When you work a four day work week, and take your vacation on a day with a holiday, particularly if you work the Friday before, you can very quickly turn 6 weeks into 10.
They might not see me in the office until October!
