Sadness and silliness
Oct. 14th, 2004 07:33 amAn airplane crashed here overnight. They don't believe there are any survivors. It was a 747 and luckily it was a cargo plane and there were only seven people on board (not so lucky for those seven people, I guess.) Debris is scattered over a fairly large area, much of which is the route we take to get to the inlaw's home. It's rather erie. I get wigged out over very little, except maybe earwigs, but plane crashes completely Wig me out with a capital Wig. I have nightmares of them so much that I know when I *see* a plane crash that I'm dreaming. Unfortunatley, I'm not dreaming now.
A week or so ago one of our Navy submarines had what was reported at the time as a "small fire" with only a few smoke inhalation injuries. Shortly thereafter one of those injured died and another was in critical condition. The subs have been purchased second hand from Britain and there is much concern over their seaworthiness. It was on its maiden voyage as a Canadian Submarine and was barely off the coast of Ireland when the fire broke out. The funeral for the Sailor was yesterday in the church across from my office. At noon there was nothing but a sea of full military dress uniforms. Traffic was backed up for hours.
Yes, silliness, and a bit of black humour maybe...
Military dress uniforms turn me on. Stick a 800 pound man with bad teeth and body odour in an Naval Officer's uniform and I'll follow him anywhere. I thought I was going to have convulsions watching all the men yesterday.
I suspect I will rot in hell for that. Oh well, just add it to the list.
I was awake at 5:00 this morning and got up at 6:00. Going to bed at 9:00 will do that to a person. The Kid got up with me and sat at the table for an hour doing all of her homework so she wouldn't have to do it over the weekend. I have The Best Kid in the World.
Back later with the grateful list. The kid's ready to go to school and I'm not even dressed yet. And I haven't made her lunch.
