Sep. 10th, 2004 10:40 pmA quick update before I hop in the bubble bath that's calling my name...
Had to go to the skipper's meeting for the Convoy Cup this evening. The race starts here. Thom lives an hour or so away - so it's the rest of the crew that has to drive the distance instead of me for a change. That also means that I stood in for the skipper at the race meeting this evening. I'd never done that before. It was supposed to be registration from 5-7, skipper's meeting at 7 and then a wine and cheese reception from 7 - 9. I got there at about 6:30, signed us all up and hung around waiting for the skippers meeting. Finally at 8:30, the "meeting" began. It began with lots of speeches from foreign dignitaries and the governor general and lots of other falderah. LOOK PEOPLE, I'M ALREADY AN HOUR LATER THAN I TOLD MY BABYSITTER I'D BE. CAN WE JUST TALK ABOUT THE DARN RACE HERE?!?!
On top of that, I misplaced my drink tickets. Pooh.
The actual "skippers meeting" took all of 5 minutes where we went over the marks and the roundings and such. For this I hung around for 2 hours?
Tomorrow's the race. (((EXCITED)))
Hopefully I'll be home Sunday night some time. Weather and fate permitting.
Think nice warm thoughts about me around 4:00 in the morning. You'll be snuggly warm in bed. I'll be out on the North Atlantic somewhere. YAY ME!

Date: 2004-09-10 07:47 pm (UTC)Dilberts law of meetings; The length of the meeting is inversly propotional to the actual content of the meeting. So if the content is zero the length is infinate [or at least seems so.]
