It's a sailing weekend - or at least it was supposed to be. Metro Regatta at the Royal Nova Scotia Yacht Squadron (said in a high-brow snooty voice). Yesterday's race went... went... interestingly. Good wind, beautiful warm sunny day, it was all swell. Until the end of the first spinnaker leg where I... I DID IT AGAIN DAMMIT, I DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH GODDAMNED WRAPS ON THE SPINNAKER HALYARD BEFORE I DROPPED IT!!! Sadly, this time I didn't just end up with a blister or two, I've got a bunch of blisters intemingled between the hamburger meat once known as the skin on my fingers.
On the upside, the crew think I'm amazing now. I finished the race with hamburger hands - only going below to puke once. And I didn't pass out.
After the race I went to the emergency department and now I'm sitting here typing with one finger of my left hand and three on my right. (my thumbs are all ok - Yay!) And I'm out of the race for a couple of days as the dessings aren't supposed to get wet for at least two days.
Yay me
Dick's working this weekend and the kid's at gwamma's because i was supposed to race all weekend. I have a few $$'s for a change - I think I'll play it low keyed and maybe go shopping or something. Take my sister and brother to visit my mother in the hospital and go shopping. That's assuming I can figure out how to wash my hair...
