People in town - that's about 8 miles from me - absolutely freak out if their electricity goes out for more than 45 minutes. If my power goes out, I settle in for the long haul. My computer is lovely to be sure, but I also know how to get along without it. Perhaps that is because I live in a rural hilly area where cell phones are mostly useless and internet service is capricious, and we meet at the post office to ask where that fire truck was going in such a hurry, rather than email someone to ask.
